Commonwealth Plaza is the collective name of two high-rise residential structures at 330 and 340 West Diversey Parkway, Chicago, IL, 60657.  This complex is very special in many ways.  Its location on the northern end of Lincoln Park gives access to the facilities of the park and its world famous zoo.  Its proximity to Lake Michigan and Diversey Harbor to the east gives it ready access to the lakefront and its recreational opportunities, including a driving range.  South-facing units have a panoramic view of the downtown and near north areas of Chicago, including Willis Tower, the John Hancock Building, and Navy Pier.  North-facing units have a view of the northern shoreline of Lake Michigan with its harbors. 
 
Mies van der Rohe, one of the founders of the International Style, has designed the two structures with his hallmark curtain of windows within a steel skeleton.  The absence of conventional exterior walls admits maximum light to the interior of the units and permits stunning views in all four directions.

In addition to residential units. Commonwealth Plaza provides amenities for the use of its residents, such as a swimming pool and sundeck, a playground for children, an exercise room, a commissary, a valet shop that receives items for laundry and cleaning, laundry rooms, and a Hospitality Room for meetings and receptions.  An underground garage and a carport exterior to the main buildings offer rental housing, both valet and reserved, for automobiles of the residents and occasional guests.  Security is provided 24/7 by doormen in both buildings.  Basic and extended basic cable TV is also available to residents.
 
Unit owners in both buildings together make up the Commonwealth Plaza Condominium Association, a not-for-profit corporation.  The association is organized under a binding Declaration that establishes the basic rules by which the corporation must operate.  Funds for the operation and maintenance of the two structures come from monthly assessments and other fees collected from the owners of all units.  A Board of Directors, consisting of nine members of the Association, operates as a fiduciary agent. They are owners elected by the Association membership to serve for a term of two years.
